Mangrove Forest at Lac Bay

The mangrove forest of Lac Bay is one of the best preserved mangrove forests in the Caribbean and a vital nursery ground for marine life, fish and birds. The mangrove forest of Lac Bay is part of the Bonaire National Marine Park.

Between the forest and the barrier reef large areas of the Bay are covered with sea grass and provide an important habitat for juvenile reef fish, queen conch, rays, lobsters, seahorses and a unique foraging ground for juvenile green turtles.

Kayak through the mangroves and snorkel for a truly unique experience. Or tour the Lac with a solar powered boats guided by a well trained naturalist.
